About Your Opportunity
Reporting to our Principal Process Engineer, the Senior Operations Process Engineer, will serve as the technical authority for process engineering across Seqwater’s water treatment operations. This role provides expert input throughout the asset lifecycle—from planning and design to commissioning and optimisation—while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient performance. Key responsibilities include leading investigations, defect elimination, process safety management (PSM), and Management of Change (MOC) activities, as well as mentoring others and driving technical capability within the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive Operational Excellence: Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce defects, and enhance asset capability through design, commissioning, validation, and optimisation activities.
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Provide risk leadership via hazard assessments, PSM elements, and Management of Change protocols; lead/participate in HAZOP studies and emergency response.
- Deliver Technical Expertise: Validate designs, lead investigations and feasibility studies for capital projects, and act as Seqwater’s commissioning representative for new assets.
- Optimise Plant Performance: Identify opportunities and risks, implement improvements to maximise water production, efficiency, and quality, using data analysis and engineering principles.
- Build Capability: Mentor operators and junior engineers, contribute to team development, and support knowledge sharing through training and industry engagement.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering
- A minimum of 7 years’ relevant working experience, preferably as a field operations engineer.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory, industry and operational requirements pertaining to drinking water treatment.
- Detailed knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the theory and practice of water treatment processes and management systems
- Basic project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Experience with relevant modelling tools and software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge and experience with relevant modelling tools and software.
- C class Driver’s License
This position has a salary range starting at $149,648 (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
