About Your Opportunity

You will develop, implement, and evaluate Seqwater’s communication and engagement strategies to support achievement of Seqwater’s strategic objectives, including driving social licence and community trust. Leading a team of professionals, you will work collaboratively across Seqwater and with external stakeholders, customers and communities to deliver the communication and engagement activities in line with Seqwater’s operational requirements, projects, and objectives. You will serve as a trusted specialist advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on all matters related to Communication and Engagement, including reputation management.

As a Senior Leader, you will also play a critical role using your strong leadership capabilities to shape Seqwater’s culture and drive improved performance, safety and customer experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead Seqwater’s approach to communication and engagement, with a strong focus on building positive brand recognition, social licence and community trust through strategic communication and campaign plans and activities, including:
    • Digital and traditional media campaigns and activities and serving as media spokesperson.
    • Digital asset and content management plans.
    • Corporate sponsorship and community engagement plans
  • Lead a team of communication and engagement professionals in the delivery of advisory services to the business, including:
    •  Communication and engagement strategies for a growing portfolio of infrastructure projects.
    • Crisis, reputation, and issues management
    • Flood operations and emergency communications plans, protocols, and procedures, including leadership of the incident and emergency public information function and participating in a 24/7 on call roster for Seqwater’s Emergency Management Team and Flood Operations Centre.
    • Stakeholder, customer, and community market research to inform planning and decision-making.
    • Seqwater’s stakeholder, customer, and community relationship management database, including management of external enquiries and the organisation’s compliments and complaints process.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of Seqwater’s Stakeholder Management Plan.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the:
    • School and community education and engagement plans and experiences with Seqwater’s strategic objectives and, where relevant, the Australian Curriculum.
    • Corporate events program, with a focus on events that support employee, stakeholder, customer and community education and engagement.
    • Strategic partnerships to extend the reach and impact of the education program, achieve strategic objectives and secure, maintain and grow trust in and advocacy for Seqwater.
    • sponsorship policy and programs.
  • Lead the Communication & Engagement team driving a high-performance culture delivering improved outcomes in communication, engagement and community experience.
  • Partner with the Executive and Senior Leadership team in the delivery of best practice communication and engagement programs, initiatives, and solutions.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:


  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Senior experience in communication, public relations, or marketing roles with demonstrated success in developing and executing communication strategies.


  • Demonstrated experience in leading brand, corporate communications, stakeholder, customer and community relations, education, and engagement functions in a large organisation.
  • Experience in effective community engagement strategies and processes, particularly in relation to infrastructure projects and plans.
  • Experience in managing effective public education and behaviour change campaigns.
  • Experience in managing communications during emergencies, incidents, and crises.

This position will be offered as an individual TFR contract with an attractive salary.and is a Permanent Fulltime position
