About Your Opportunity
Are you ready to make a real impact as our Principal Technical Lead – Networks within IPCD? In this pivotal role, you’ll set the technical vision and provide expert governance across multibillion-dollar pipeline infrastructure projects, guiding them from planning through to handover. You’ll drive consistency and excellence by implementing robust technical management frameworks, innovative tools, and effective protocols. Your first assignment will see you leading either the strategically vital Toowoomba to Warwick Pipeline (T2W) or the Northern Pipeline Interconnector, Stage 3 (NPI-3), with the chance to take on further high-profile projects across Seqwater’s diverse asset portfolio as our transformation continues.
Excitingly, we also have an additional opportunity for a Technical Lead – Networks to join the team. This role is perfect for a skilled professional looking to step up and make their mark alongside our Principal Technical Lead, working collaboratively on groundbreaking water infrastructure projects that shape the future of South East Queensland.
Key responsibilities:
Step into a pivotal role where your expertise will shape the future of South East Queensland’s water infrastructure. As Principal Technical Lead – Networks, you’ll take charge of major pipeline network planning and capital delivery projects, with the responsibility to:
- Drive technical leadership, set the strategic direction, and make crucial decisions on multi-billion-dollar water distribution network projects essential to the region’s prosperity.
- Oversee the management of critical safety, water quality, and security risks throughout every project phase – from design and investigation to construction, commissioning, and beyond – often spanning more than five years.
- Build and lead high-performing, multidisciplinary teams with best-in-industry engineering capabilities and specialist technical support, ensuring seamless project delivery.
- Embrace a level of technical leadership and accountability that matches the scale, impact, and complexity of these groundbreaking works.
You’ll be at the helm of technical governance and engineering assurance for key Seqwater pipeline initiatives, guiding projects through strategic planning, design, delivery, handover, and ongoing operations and maintenance. A core part of your role will be to facilitate and lead collaboration between project teams and a Technical Review Panel—often comprising international experts in network engineering and related fields.
In addition, you’ll champion technical engagement and decision-making across the business by leading Technical Working Groups and collaborating with stakeholders from various disciplines. You’ll also direct and coordinate the efforts of Engineering Service Providers and other consultants, ensuring their expertise is harnessed to deliver outstanding project outcomes.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
- Qualification or the ability to obtain registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
- Unrestricted Class C drivers license.
- Experience as a leader, including professional experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary technical team of professionals in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing network safety considerations in the detailed design of major projects.
- Experience in engaging with and presenting complex technical problems and solutions to Senior Leadership Teams and Project Leadership Teams.
- Demonstrated experience of planning and delivering technical outcomes for major water or civil infrastructure brownfield and/ or greenfield projects.
This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role.
