About Your Opportunity
As the Senior Automation and Process Control Engineer, you will play a critical role designing, implementing, optimising and maintaining of Automation & Process Control (A&PC) engineering standards and procedures. You will lead the A&PC engineering services, to maintain stable and standardised engineering environments. You will collaborate and lead cross-functional teams to implement unique automation and process control enhancements that enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert for automation and process control enhancements across projects and operations, ensuring integration into a consistent technical environment aligned with organisational and industry standards.
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive standards framework for automation systems, including technical documentation such as P&IDs and functional specifications, in compliance with national and international standards.
- Supervise design teams, manage resources and budgets, and oversee project deliverables to optimise automation and process control systems for safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure robust change management, quality governance, and clear mechanisms for oversight and feedback.
- Drive the development and improvement of policies, procedures, and standards, monitor operational performance, and provide expert analysis to ensure compliance, reliability, and optimisation of systems.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (specialising in process control) or equivalent, suitable for RPEQ registration.
- Current active RPEQ registration in a relevant discipline or ability to obtain within 3 months of appointment.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including initiating projects, aligning with business goals, and writing complex scopes.
- Proven ability to engage and supervise consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver outcomes within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Strong technical reporting and documentation skills, including preparing standards, specifications, and consultancy briefs.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in automation engineering, process control, or related roles (desirable).
This role will be offered on a 12 month fixed term contract, with a competitive salary, plus 12.75% superannuation.
