About Your Opportunity

As the Senior Cyber Policy & Awareness Specialist, you will develop and deliver Seqwater’s cyber policy, awareness, and culture uplift initiative. Your primary focus will be developing and implementing comprehensive security awareness programs that empower employees to recognise and mitigate cyber threats. Supporting the creation and communication of cyber security policies and standards and embedding a culture of compliance and resilience aligned to Seqwater’s Cyber Security Strategy 2024–2028 and relevant regulatory obligations and frameworks (SOCI, IS18, Essential 8, NIST CSF 2.0). Additionally you will also support communication and lessons-learned activities following incidents, ensuring staff awareness and resilience are strengthened.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cyber security awareness and training programmes, including phishing simulations, aligned with NIST CSF and Essential 8.
  • Draft, Maintain and communicate Seqwater’s cyber security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Promote a security-first culture across IT, OT, and business teams through tailored awareness initiatives and clear communications.
  • Establish baselines and track metrics (e.g. awareness survey results, training completion rates, phishing test outcomes) to measure program effectiveness, and report on these through dashboards and governance forums..
  • Act as liaison during audits, regulatory reviews, and industry forums to ensure we meet evolving cyber security obligations. Align awareness activities with government expectations and incorporate feedback from these engagements. .
  • Stay informed about emerging cyber threats and incidents. Support post-incident awareness campaigns by communicating lessons learned, and update training content and policies to bolster our resilience. 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Business, Law, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).Strong experience in developing and implementing policies, standards, and governance frameworks, with the consistency and attention to detail needed to ensure organisation-wide compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver awareness programmes and policy communication initiatives that drive compliance and secure behaviours across diverse teams.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., SOCI Act, privacy laws) and ability to translate them into actionable controls. (a legal or privacy background is highly regarded for interpreting obligations and supporting compliance initiatives).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills – able to work across IT, OT, legal, risk, and operational teams to embed security practices and foster a culture of cyber resilience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear policies, executive reports, and user-friendly awareness content for various audiences.

This role will be offered on a 2 year fixed term contract, with a salary starting at $108,332.25 plus 12.75% superannuation.
