As one of Australia's largest and most diverse capital city water authorities, we manage up to $12 billion of water supply assets - including the SEQ Water Grid - and the natural catchments of the region's major water supply sources.  

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated community relations professional to deliver communication and engagement strategies to support key projects in South East Queensland including the Gold Coast, Logan, Scenic Rim, Ipswich and Redlands regions. You will play an integral role in engaging Seqwater's key stakeholders, customers and communities before, during and after project delivery as a part of a diverse, multi-skilled team.


About the position

Reporting to the Team Leader Community Relations, you will develop, deliver and evaluate stakeholder, customer and community engagement strategies and communication plans for Seqwater's natural, built asset and policy projects.  You will be responsible for communication and engagement on projects across the southern region including our Dam Improvement Program, water treatment plant upgrades, pipeline maintenance and repairs and catchment care programs.

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

·  Lead, influence, and implement best practice community relations to provide timely and effective stakeholder and community engagement.

·  Provide specialist advice and work collaboratively with Seqwater's business groups to support the delivery of projects and initiatives.

·  Identify and manage engagement and communication opportunities and challenges in project delivery in conjunction with internal stakeholders.

·  Manage external specialists and resources to ensure effective, consistent and value-for-money engagement and communication advice and support for Seqwater projects.

·  Coordinate responses to stakeholder, customer and community enquiries to ensure accurate, timely, consistent and customer-focused communication.

Please note this role is a fixed term opportunity for 3 years.

Desirable skills and experience

·  Relevant tertiary qualifications in a field appropriate to the position (communications, engagement or public relations preferred).

·  Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a community engagement or communications role.

·  Unrestricted driver's licence for a motor vehicle.

·  Ability to work across South East Queensland including the Gold Coast, Logan, Scenic Rim, Ipswich and Redlands regions.

·  Project planning and management skills, including demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating effective engagement and communication plans.

·  Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

·  Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and to manage a diverse range of issues, within tight and often competing deadlines.

·  Thorough knowledge and extensive experience of engagement and communication methodologies, along with the ability to explain these to others.

·  Excellent written communication skills, with proven ability to prepare written content for various channels, purposes and audiences.

·  Demonstrated experience briefing external providers to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality and financial outcomes.

This position has been graded in accordance with Seqwater's Certified Agreement as AO6 with a salary of $91,649.85 per annum and up to 12.75% superannuation.
