About Your Opportunity

Reporting to our Senior Environmental Advisor, you will deliver best practice environmental advice and support within an asset intensive industry. You will work autonomously and partner with key internal stakeholders to improve Seqwater’s environmental management capabilities. You will interact with local, state and commonwealth regulators and relevant external stakeholders to ensure Seqwater’s interests and environmental management outcomes are achieved. You will partner with operational and project staff in relation to environmental matters to drive a culture of ownership, management, and improvement of environmental values for a sustainable future.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver both regional compliance, environmental incident management, reporting activities alongside complex scientific monitoring programs and consultancy support to meet relevant legislation, approvals (such as environmental authority, EPBC approvals and Coordinator General reports), policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide sound technical advice and complex problem-solving support into project planning, delivery, operations, and maintenance processes.
  • Undertake environmental investigations, audits and risk assessments, in accordance with policies, standards, procedures and guidelines, for site based operational and project related activities, including leading audits and interfacing and coordinating with relevant Local, State and Commonwealth regulators and other external stakeholders (e.g. community and environmental groups). 
  • Contribute to the development of organisational guidelines and procedures to address environmental challenges and risk.
  • Track environmental compliance against approvals, licenses, and other legislated obligations, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data to track performance indicators and identify areas for improvement. Provide regular reports and presentations summarising metrics, accomplishments, and challenges for management review.
  • Build and maintain productive and effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders such as local, state and commonwealth regulators, peak bodies, and other governmental agencies.

 

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:  

Essentials

  • Tertiary qualifications in, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Sound experience translating environmental legislation, policies and procedures and their application to operational and project activities.
  • Experience in environmental management of project related activities and risks, including the development of project environmental management plans and addressing project-related environmental issues.
  • Unrestricted “Class C” Driver’s Licence
  • Experience in engaging and negotiating with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in the use of incident, action and risk management software packages.

 

Desirables

  • Experience in managing environmental incidents (e.g. Lead ICAM Investigator).
  • Experience in undertaking site and project based environmental audits with EMS lead auditor qualifications.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing.
  • Qualification or experience in change management.

 

This position has a salary range of $111,926.71 - $124,174.54 (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
