About Your Opportunity 
As the Principal Planning and Approvals, you will play a pivotal role in leading the environmental, land use planning and heritage assessments and management function during the development stages of complex projects. You will lead a team that provides the planning, coordination and negotiation of approvals during project initiation and development. You will work with internal and external stakeholders and represent Seqwater at external public forums and meetings in relation to the projects. You will be a key member of multi-disciplinary project teams, delivering Seqwater’s major capital projects. 

Key responsibilities:  

  • Lead the Planning and Approvals team in the provision of high level technical environmental, land use planning and heritage assessments and management advice and support to Seqwater’s Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery Group while fostering a collaborative and high performance work culture. 

  • Lead the environmental, land use planning, heritage assessment and management activities for complex projects in accordance with legislative obligations and support Seqwater to limit its impact upon the natural environment and protect key environment values. 

  • Lead project business case stage inputs as required by the Queensland Government Project Assessment Framework, in relation to environment, heritage, land use planning, and legal/regulatory considerations. 

  • Manage key stakeholder and client relationships to ensure productive and effective relationships are maintained with internal and external stakeholders. 

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will possess: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment Management, Engineering or Planning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience in, environmental impact assessment and other assessments for development approvals. 
  • Comprehensive experience with primary approval processes such as Coordinated Project and Ministerial Infrastructure Designation.  
  • Experience in dealing with multiple government regulators and external stakeholders. 
 
 
 

This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role.
