Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert electrical engineering advice, analysis, problem solving, verification, and troubleshooting services to planning teams, project teams, asset management teams and operation and maintenance teams that will ensure safe and efficient electrical and instrumentation equipment and systems for Seqwater.
  • Develop and maintain, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Standards, Procedures and associated documents which set minimum standards and recommendations which support the development and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation infrastructure for Seqwater that is fit for purpose, efficient, safe to operate and maintain, and compliant with legislation.
  • Review project Scopes of Work, Business Cases and Designs and participate in Design Review and Risk Review workshops to ensure appropriate electrical and instrumentation engineering has been adopted in line with Seqwater standards, legislation and industry best practice.
  • Provide RPEQ Subject Matter Expert services in electrical and instrumentation engineering with specific emphasis on risk, life cycle cost, constructability and operability to review, recommend and/or endorse engineering decisions.

This may include engineering sign-off as responsible RPEQ for:

  • Development and Revision of relevant Seqwater Standards
  • Deviation Requests for departures from relevant Seqwater Standards
  • Concept or Detailed Design reviews
  • Technical hazard studies such as HAZID, CHAIR, HAZOP, CHAZOP
  • Verification and acceptance stages for projects - Management of Change (Technical) reviews in asset operations

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline suitable for registration as a RPEQ (minimum 4-year Washington Accord accredited degree, or equivalent as assessed by Engineers Australia).
  • Current active RPEQ registration in a discipline relevant to the position OR demonstrated ability to obtain RPEQ registration in a discipline relevant to the position within 3 months of appointment. (E.g. existing assessment recognised by BPEQ such as CPEng, NER, RPEng; or registration in a jurisdiction advertised by BPEQ as eligible for mutual recognition).
  • Significant experience in providing electrical engineering analysis and solutions to complex issues for large infrastructure assets and projects, under limited supervision.
  • High level knowledge with extensive experience in design, installation, operation, and/or maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment related to water treatment and supply infrastructure including the ability to implement designs and manage operations.
  • Experience in managing electrical risks and leading continuous improvements in electrical safety including sound knowledge and experience in Engineering
  • Technical Hazard Assessment techniques including HAZOP and CHAZOP.

This position Has a salary range of $144,587-$162,324 dependent on experience Plus 12.75% Super and is a permanent fulltime position.
