About Your Opportunity
As the Principal Insurance Advisory, you will lead the strategic development and management of Seqwater’s insurance program, providing expert advice and oversight across complex, high-value risks. This role ensures the organisation’s insurance portfolio aligns with its risk appetite, regulatory obligations, and commercial objectives, with a particular focus on supporting capital delivery projects and enterprise-wide risk mitigation.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage Seqwater’s insurance programme, including strategic planning, execution, and negotiating settlements within delegated authority.
- Provide expert guidance to senior leadership and project teams on insurance structuring for major projects, including risk transfer strategies, policy placement, and contingency planning.
- Develop and present the annual insurance renewal strategy, incorporating risk assessments, market trends, and broker input to influence executive decisions and budget allocations.
- Manage complex claims investigations and negotiations with insurers and brokers, while ensuring compliance with regulatory changes and risk mitigation practices.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with brokers, underwriters, and legal advisors, and design enterprise-wide reporting frameworks using data analytics to provide actionable insights.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Extensive experience in corporate insurance advisory, including managing complex insurance portfolios and claims, with prior experience as an underwriter or in commercial broking.
- Strong capability to interpret and apply insurance policy wording and regulatory frameworks.
- Well-established connections within the Australian insurance market, with proven experience collaborating with claims and underwriting groups.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and external partners.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, operating with a high degree of independence and delegated authority.
- Tertiary qualification in insurance, risk management, law, finance, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Prior experience in public infrastructure or construction insurance management would be advantageous but is not essential.
This role will be offered on a full-time permanent basis, with a competitive salary, plus 12.75% superannuation.
