About your opportunity
As the Operations Training Specialist, you will develop, coordinate and deliver On-the-Job training for new and existing team members, from trainees to experienced Operators. Working within your Region, you will partner with the Learning Team to ensure staff remain compliant with mandatory and specialist operational training requirements, including isolation procedures, fluoride handling and critical water treatment processes. You will support and monitor trainee development through individual training plans and provide technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient and reliable water treatment operations.
This role is responsible for:
- Develop, deliver and monitor individual training plans for trainees and staff, aligned with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and deliver On-the-Job training across water treatment operations, including isolation procedures, fluoride handling, WH&S and environmental management.
- Plan job rotations, shadowing and other learning activities to support capability development.
- Provide coaching, technical guidance and competency-based training to regional water treatment plant staff.
- Develop, review and maintain training materials, procedures, work instructions and SOPs.
- Monitor compliance with mandatory training, maintaining accurate training records and reporting outcomes.
- Liaise with the Learning team and internal/external stakeholders to ensure training meets current and future operational needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying training gaps and contributing to centralised competency framework projects.
- Contribute to reporting, budget activities and other duties as directed, while complying with Seqwater’s WH&S, quality, environmental and Code of Conduct requirements.
- Participate in shift roster coverage as required.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in water treatment plant operations and On-the-Job training delivery.
- Strong understanding of WH&S, environmental protection and water quality requirements.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver training programs, work independently, and manage priorities effectively.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High level of computer literacy for training records and reporting.
- Unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or Water Industry Operations, experience in technical training development, First Aid and confined space entry qualifications (desirable).
This position has a competitive salary range, plus 12.75% superannuation and is full-time, permanent.
