About Your Opportunity

As Technical Lead – Dams (Geotechnical) in the Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery (IPCD) team, you will lead the engineering direction and governance on the geotechnical aspects of significant multi-billion-dollar dam infrastructure projects, across the planning, delivery and handover stages of the project lifecycle, implementing appropriate technical management frameworks, tools, and protocols to improve t consistency and effectiveness. The role will initially focus on the strategically important Somerset Dam Improvement Program (SDIP).

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert geotechnical engineering and design advice and decisions in regard to planning, construction, maintenance and operations of Seqwater’s dam infrastructure projects, including gated and ungated dams and weirs, ensuring that safety in design principles and regulatory requirements are considered.
  • Provide engineering leadership and expertise to the project delivery groups within Seqwater and Seqwater dam engineering personnel to ensure the projects service need, risk and opportunity are appropriately identified and considered by technical and design requirements.
  • Lead the Technical Governance and Engineering Assurance activities as they relate to specific geotechnical aspects of Seqwater dam projects, including strategic planning, design, delivery, handover and operations and maintenance, assisting in the review and development of applicable engineering standards.
  • Work with the Dam Engineering Service Provider (DESP) for your project to ensure that high level and effective consultancy engineering services into the geotechnical aspects of the dams projects is provided.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Qualification or the ability to obtain registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland.
  • Extensive professional engineering experience including significant experience in geotechnical engineering for dam infrastructure design and construction working on high consequence dam projects, across multiple geographic locations.
  • Experience in engaging with and presenting complex technical problems and solutions Senior Leadership Teams and Project Leadership Teams.
  • Management knowledge and experience, including in operational planning processes and the coordination, preparation and administration of budgets.
  • Substantial industry and regulatory experience in understanding, interpreting and applying relevant Queensland and Australian regulatory guidelines, standards and requirements to asset planning and delivery.

This position has a salary range of $144,587 - $156,835 (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
