About Your Opportunity

As a Scientific Technical Specialist at Seqwater, you'll play a key role in providing technical advice regarding water quality instrumentation, analytical results and other scientific matters to ensure the quality and accuracy of water quality tests. You'll join a high-performing team, driving cutting-edge analytical methods and technologies to monitor water quality, while empowering staff with expert training to deliver exceptional results. Make a real impact in safeguarding our water for communities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead expertise in advanced analytical tools (GCMS-PT, IC, TOC, AAS-GF, Particle Sizing) driving continuous improvement and innovation in water quality monitoring methods and instrumentation for accuracy and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance across operator and process laboratories aligning with Seqwater's certified ISO systems.
  • Deliver expert training and support to operational staff, ensuring proficiency in test procedures and water quality monitoring tools.
  • Oversee timely sampling and analysis of drinking water, source water, treatment streams, and environmental samples, covering physical and chemical parameters.
  • Provide SME technical judgement and initiative in the investigation, trouble-shooting and resolution of problems concerning water quality instrumentation, water treatment process chemistry, operator testing and on-line water quality monitoring.

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Chemistry or a relevant Science or Engineering with strong demonstrated professional experience in a related role.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.
  • Extensive experience in method development / validation and use of high-level analytical techniques and advanced analytical instrumentation.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of scientific sampling and analysis of water samples for a range of physical and chemical parameters for process control and verification of water treatment processes.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of laboratory quality assurance systems and good laboratory practices for accreditation by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water treatment processes and technologies. (desirable)

This position has a salary starting at $128,257 plus 12.75% superannuation and is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
