About Your Opportunity
As the Dam Operator within the Irrigation Team, you will carry out the day to day operations, surveillance, and inspections, of dam and irrigation related infrastructure to ensure their safe and efficient operation in line with all regulatory requirements. You will carry out tasks related to the release and distribution of water from these assets, including the operation and monitoring of infrastructure during flood and other emergencies.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate water distribution, release, irrigation and treatment activities to meet the required water delivery needs.
- Carry out the surveillance and inspection of dam related infrastructure to ensure their safe and efficient operation and to meet the regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and monitor the undertaking of preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance and renewals work to the required standard and in liaison with Seqwater maintenance teams.
- Operate with guidance dam related infrastructure such as valves, hydro generation equipment, water treatment systems, and pump stations.
- Operate with guidance and monitor dams and infrastructure during floods and other emergencies under direction from Principal Engineer Dam Safety Operations.
- Collect and record operation data relating to regulatory requirements such as IROL/ROP and various data systems
- Meet with customers and stakeholders to determine irrigation and metering requirements
Hours and Locations
This role will be part of team that works on a roster including weekends, public holidays and some on-call work (shift allowances apply).
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Essentials
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or higher (desirable), or Trade Qualification and relevant experience.
- C Class Driver’s Licence for manual vehicle (mandatory).
Desirables
- Certificate in Confined Space Entry Systems.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Four Wheel Driving Basics
- Experience in participating in team work.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of small plant and equipment.
- Experience in operating water-related infrastructure.
- Sound experience in written and oral communication
- List qualifications (Example: Relevant Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.)
This position has a salary range of $72,073 - $91,622 (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation and shift allowances
