About Your Opportunity

Are you ready to step into a role that shapes the future of SEQ water infrastructure? As our Design Manager, you'll be at the forefront of transformative projects, driving innovation and excellence in dam upgrades. Reporting to the North Pine Dam Technical Lead, you'll lead engineering activities from inception to completion, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

In this dynamic position, you'll provide expert advice, conduct meticulous design reviews, lead complex problem-solving initiatives, and mentor our talented team. You'll identify and address system and process gaps, manage top-tier consultants and independent reviewers, and spearhead the development of comprehensive scopes of work and project plans.

Collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external, you'll embody Seqwater's values, striving for industry-leading project delivery in water infrastructure. This role isn't just about managing projects—it's about making a lasting impact on the communities we serve and contributing to the overall success of Seqwater's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design advice for planning, construction, maintenance and operations of Seqwater’s large dams, including gated and ungated dams.
  • Develop technical documentation for procurement of design consultants, construction contractors and supporting services.
  • Day-to-day management of design consultants.
  • Provide engineering leadership to ensure the project service needs are realised during planning and delivery phases.
  • Support the Technical Director (Dams) by supervising various design management activities.
  • Lead the implementation of the Engineering Management Framework and implementation of engineering standards.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland.
  • A minimum 10 years’ professional engineering experience. At least 5 years’ experience in dam design and/or construction is highly desirable.
  • Direct experience in design and delivery of civil construction contracts exceeding CAPEX $30M.
  • Unrestricted Drivers Licence for a motor vehicle.
  • Significant experience in engineering design, review and development of technical documents for dam projects.

This position will be offered as an individual TFR contract with an attractive salary.
