About Your Opportunity
As the Design Manager – Source Protection, you will manage the design of projects that support Seqwater’s Natural Asset Program across the areas of source protection, catchment management, land management, and recreation. Your responsibilities will include waterway erosion and sediment control, land condition improvement, agricultural enhancements, re vegetation and offset initiatives, as well as upgrades/refurbishments of recreational areas and wastewater facilities.
This is a dynamic and varied role that spans environmental engineering, catchment management, and offers a balance of office-based and fieldwork. You’ll have the opportunity to travel across South-East Queensland, Seqwater’s recreation areas, catchment lands, and private properties bordering key waterways within Seqwater’s water supply catchments.
In this role, you will provide expert planning and design advice, develop project documentation and scopes, and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also manage external consultants and contractors throughout the full project life cycle and gateway process.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of planning documentation for projects within the Natural Asset Program through close collaboration with planners and project managers to ensure smooth project delivery. Projects may include waterway erosion and sediment control, land management (including agricultural improvements), re-vegetation and offsets (Environmental/Carbon), and upgrades to recreational areas, including wastewater infrastructure.
- Develop Scope of Works and Services documentation to engage external design consultants and service providers during the planning and delivery phases of the project.
- Manage consultants and contractors through the entire project life cycle, from options development and detailed design to construction, monitoring, and benefits realization. You will be expected to attend project meetings and site visits, working closely with the project team and relevant stakeholders.
- Provide specialist advice to internal stakeholders on stakeholders in the areas of land management in particular natural areas restoration and re-vegetation.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant science or engineering discipline
- Significant demonstrated experience particularly within the water industry on projects of a similar scope and value as outlined above.
- Experience in planning and delivery of catchment management or natural resource management projects.
- Experience in a design management role managing multiple projects up to $5+ Million per project.
- Demonstrated experience in technical design development and management of projects such as erosion and sediment control, land condition improvement projects including agricultural improvements, re vegetation and offset projects, and recreational area upgrades including wastewater systems.
This position has a salary starting at $132,746 - $145,422 plus 12.75% superannuation dependant on experience.
