About The Team
The Planning and Approvals team provides technical planning and environmental expertise to Seqwater’s Water Security Program. They form an integral part of the core project teams, and provide expert guidance on environmental aspects, impacts, mitigation, and design to avoid impacts to the environment where possible.
We are responsible for coordinating all necessary statutory approvals for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of infrastructure projects, including water pipelines and water treatment plants, and assisting and guiding projects through construction to ensure the environment is protected. The team sits within the Program Management Office, within the Infrastructure, Planning and Capital Delivery Group.
About the Role
With Supervision, you will be responsible for providing environmental advice, impact assessment, and coordinating statutory approvals for infrastructure projects. You will utilise you developing knowledge and application of planning and environmental legislation and regulatory approvals framework which will further advance as the job evolves.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide research and preliminary advice on environmental and land-use planning, including constraints analysis and reporting with recommendations.
- Support and coordinate professional services and approvals for environment, heritage, and land-use planning across capital projects.
- Monitor and manage approvals, permits, and compliance conditions; assist with contract management related to planning processes.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of management systems and governance frameworks for environment, heritage, and land-use planning.
This position can be based in or around greater Brisbane and offers flexible working arrangements.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in a related Environmental Science or Engineering discipline, with minimum 1–2 years’ experience.
- Experience with QLD and Commonwealth statutory approvals and legislation.
- Strong understanding of environmental and planning frameworks.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, to deliver EIS-type projects.
- Preferably skills in contaminated land, water quality, or ecology.
This position has a salary starting at $115,844 – 128,520 plus superannuation (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
