As one of the largest water businesses with the most geographically spread and diverse asset base of any capital city in Australia, our operations extend from the New South Wales border to the base of the Toowoomba ranges and north to Gympie.

As we enter an exciting period of expansion, we're embracing new technologies and sustainable practices to meet the growing needs of our region. We work collaboratively across our organisation and with our stakeholders, constantly striving to enhance the quality of service we provide. As we modernise our systems and invest in smarter water grids, we remain focused on delivering the highest standard of service, always with the future in mind.

Our transformation is about more than just infrastructure—it’s about people. Our team of dedicated professionals are united by a shared passion for creating lasting, meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve, and this is reflected in Our Vision, Water for Life, Our Promise - Safe for Life, and Our Values of integrity, respect, care, and courage that shape everything we do.

You’ll be working on some of the most high-profile water infrastructure projects in the industry, helping to secure Water for Life for generations to come.

About Your Opportunity

Step into a pivotal leadership role where your expertise in estimating will shape the success of one of South East Queensland’s most ambitious infrastructure programs. As the Estimating Lead, you’ll work hand-in-hand with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

You’ll be a driving force behind the Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery program—a five-year, $6 billion initiative that includes major upgrades to dams, treatment plants, and pipelines. With individual project values ranging from $250 million to $2 billion, your role will be critical in developing and refining project estimates throughout the entire lifecycle.

This is your opportunity to lead with precision, influence outcomes, and help deliver infrastructure that will serve communities for generations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the cost estimating, analysis and intelligence function across the Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery program of works. This includes collating historical data and market trends to inform estimates.
  • Collaborate with Project Directors, Project Managers and Program Managers to understand project/program objectives, priorities and manage and optimize program activities to ensure estimates accurately reflect project/program requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop, implement and promote the organisation’s Estimating Standard and supporting information across the Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery program.
  • Provide expert advice to the Principal Program Controls, Program and Project Directors and Managers and the Leadership Team on total project and project stage estimates.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, engineer or construction management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant successful project estimating experience within a major infrastructure project environment, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical experts and managing contractors and/ or consultants.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, monitoring and controlling of project estimates through the various project stages in the project lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Appointment to this role is subject to the provision of a national police check and may be subject to other medical/character requirements. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically deemed ineligible. Each application will be considered on its merits.
