About Your Opportunity
Step into a vital role as Senior Planning Engineer – Dams & Weirs, where your expertise will help shape the future of water infrastructure across South East Queensland. Here, you’ll take the lead in crafting detailed project plans and guiding them from concept to completion, ensuring every milestone is met, budgets are respected, and community needs are at the forefront.
Your focus will be on enhancing and strengthening the Dams & Weirs Portfolio: planning upgrades, driving asset improvements, and championing industry-leading standards. You’ll work to ensure these essential assets operate efficiently, stay compliant with regulatory requirements, and deliver maximum safety for the people who depend on them. This is your chance to make a lasting impact—reducing life safety risks and setting new benchmarks for excellence in water management.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, development, and delivery of Dam & Weir Risk Assessment (WRA) project to ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Provide technical expertise to the long-term planning objectives and Asset Portfolio Master Plan (APMP) for upgrade/removal of Seqwater’s weirs portfolio.
- Lead the prioritisation, project planning and engineering development of capital renewal or decommissioning projects identified from the WRA, considering technical requirements, environmental considerations, and regulatory compliance to address the service need and any identified risks and opportunities for the assets.
- Collaborate and coordinate cross functional teams to lead, plan and develop projects including feasibility studies, risk assessments and reporting.
- Liaise with Seqwater internal and external stakeholders to allow safety to be considered throughout the design process and the project impacts on Seqwater operations to be understood, considered, and incorporated.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with qualification in project management.
- Current active RPEQ registration in a discipline relevant to the position or ability to gain
- Demonstrated experience in planning and executing dams and weirs projects, including safety consideration and risk/condition assessment.
- Experience in the design and construction of large and complex infrastructure projects and other storage assets both nationally and internationally.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management internally and externally.
- Experience in the application of risk assessment to referable dams including the assessment of consequences and the development of failure modes and probabilities.
- Unrestricted drivers license for a motor vehicle.
