About Your Opportunity
Reporting to our General Manager Capital Delivery, as Design Manager for the Lowood Water Supply Scheme Upgrade project, you’ll lead the charge in delivering top-tier water infrastructure. This role blends technical mastery with strategic leadership — leading complex problem solving, coaching and mentoring others, identifying and rectifying system and process gaps, managing expert consultants and independent reviewers, leading the development of scopes of works and reviewing project plans.
You’ll collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage expert consultants, and drive continuous improvement in systems and processes. With a focus on excellence and innovation, you’ll shape the future of Seqwater’s network and treatment assets while championing its values every step of the way.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide engineering leadership and design advice across planning, construction, maintenance, and operations of major water infrastructure projects.
- Manage design consultants and oversee the development of technical documentation for procurement and delivery.
- Implement engineering standards and frameworks, and conduct regular reviews of systems, schedules, and consultant performance.
- Support the Technical Director (Networks) and ensure safety, quality, and service needs are met throughout project phases
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, with a minimum of 10 years’ professional engineering experience.
- Direct experience in design and delivery of civil construction contracts exceeding CAPEX $30M.
- Unrestricted Drivers Licence for a motor vehicle.
- Significant experience in engineering design, review and development of technical documents for water infrastructure and networks projects.
- Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering services with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and implementing quality management systems for delivery of design and construction projects.
- Knowledge and experience in project management procedures, technical specifications development, tender development, and contract administration.
- Strong results orientation and a proven track record of delivering major projects on time, on budget and to required quality standards.
- Current active RPEQ registration in a discipline relevant to the position (mandatory).
This position will be offered as an individual TFR contract with an attractive salary, and is a 2-year fixed term contract
