About your opportunity

As the Operations Process Engineer, you will lead technical investigations, risk assessments, process design and asset improvements, asset performance monitoring and optimisation, and supporting asset upgrades as subject matter expert,  while mentoring junior staff and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role requires a tertiary engineering qualification, significant experience, and expertise in complex water treatment or process plant operations, emphasizing problem-solving, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading technical investigations and troubleshoot process issues
  • Observing and studying system functioning and performance results.
  • Anticipating and Identifying operational problems by studying operating targets, modes of operation, unit limitations, and monitoring unit performance.
  • Conducting and facilitating risk assessments
  • Developing operational plans and strategies to improve plant performance
  • Planning and managing a diverse range of technical projects and consultants/ contractors, and coordinate activities of multidisciplinary teams
  • Conducting laboratory analysis, commissioning and test plans
  • Train staff and develop associated documentation
  • Collect, process, analyse operational and engineering data and information, and develop technical reports.
  • Coach junior and intermediate engineers
  • Provide specialist advice for process technical studies and improvements involving multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop operational solutions by defining, studying, designing, estimating, screening alternative solutions and conducting financial analysis.
  • Provide expert advise to internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Develop communication plans and provide reports and presentations to stakeholders
  • Conduct travel and site work as directed
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Develop and maintain job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations.
  • Support Incident and Emergency Management team as a member of the on-call team.
  • Undertake other duties, which are assigned from time to time by the Manager.
  • Identify all applicable and ensure compliance to corporate and industry guidelines & standards as defined by regulatory agencies and Seqwater

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (mandatory), with significant demonstrated experience and knowledge.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Current active RPEQ registration in a discipline relevant to the position (desirable).
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (desirable).
  • C class Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to work independently with broad direction
  • Practical knowledge and experience in the design, commissioning and operation of water treatment processes and technical reviews
  • Detailed knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the theory and practice of water treatment processes and management systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, industry and operational requirements pertaining to drinking water treatment, such as Australian Drinking Water Guidelines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence, and persuade

 

This position has a competitive annual salary (dependant on experience) plus 12.75% Super. This position is a fixed term contract until 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension.
