About Seqwater

Seqwater is the Queensland Government Bulk Water Supply Authority, responsible for delivering safe, secure and cost-effective bulk water supply for 3.2 million people across Southeast Queensland.
Seqwater is one of the largest water businesses with the most geographically spread and diverse asset base of any capital city water authority. Our operations extend from the New South Wales border to the base of the Toowoomba ranges.

About your opportunity

As a Strategic Maintenance Planner at Seqwater, you will be responsible for shaping the way maintenance is planned and executed across a diverse asset base. This role is focused on the development of clear, precise, and standardised strategic and tactical maintenance plans that support and are underpinned by Seqwater’s Asset Class Plans, while enabling optimised asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle value.

You will play a key role in translating asset management objectives into actionable maintenance strategies, ensuring that maintenance activities are well-documented, repeatable, and aligned with operational realities. Your work will directly contribute to the long-term sustainability and efficiency of Seqwater’s infrastructure, supporting safe and reliable water services for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic maintenance plans that are clear, precise, and standardised, supporting optimised asset performance and reliability. These plans will be underpinned by Seqwater’s Asset Class Plans and contribute to long-term asset sustainability.
  • Create and maintain maintenance schedules within Seqwater’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring they reflect operational requirements and support consistent execution of maintenance activities.
  • Develop operational and maintenance task instructions that are practical, repeatable, and aligned with best practice maintenance methodologies.
  • Analyse internal and external factors—including asset performance data, stakeholder feedback, and industry benchmarks—to identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective planning of maintenance activities, particularly for new or modified assets, while considering resource availability and operational constraints.
  • Participate in asset register reviews and updates, ensuring asset data is accurate, complete, and supports effective maintenance planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance planning processes, documentation, and systems to enhance reliability, efficiency, and value delivery.

Appointment to this role is subject to the provision of a national police check and may be subject to other medical/character requirements. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically deemed ineligible. Each application will be considered on its merits.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Associate Diploma in Engineering, Asset Management, or a relevant trade qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning or asset management, ideally within the water or utilities sector.
  • Current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence.
  • Strong understanding of asset condition assessment, reliability principles, and maintenance planning methodologies.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, such as Mainpac or similar systems (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Alignment with Seqwater’s values: integrity, respect, care, and courage.

This position has a base salary range of $108,332 - $119,130 (dependant on experience) p.a. plus 12.75% superannuation. Shift and overtime allowances may also apply.
