About Your Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead engineering planning and delivery activities for major water infrastructure projects within the Infrastructure Planning & Capital Delivery Team.  Reporting to the Senior Project Manager (Capital Delivery – WSIP), you will provide high‑level engineering leadership, technical governance, and design coordination to ensure Seqwater’s major projects are delivered to the highest standard. This role will work closely with internal and external engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to develop safe, quality, cost‑effective and future‑focused design outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering leadership and management to ensure the project deliverables are provided in accordance with Seqwater requirements during planning and delivery phases.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager (Capital Delivery) and Technical Director (Engineering) by coordinating, leading and supervising various engineering management activities including; engineering design, design and constructability reviews, digital engineering, site investigations and technical workshops.
  • Lead the implementation of the Engineering Management Framework and Seqwater Engineering Standards on projects.
  • Day-to-day management of engineering suppliers / contractors, internal stakeholders and other technical consultants / specialists to a high standard, on time and within budget.
  • Develop technical documentation for procurement of engineering consultants, construction contractors and supporting services in collaboration with the project team.
  • Provide engineering and technical input to the development of Preliminary and Detailed Business Cases to; identify service needs, define solutions and justify investment for water infrastructure projects.
  • Provide engineering and technical input to the Planning and Environmental Approvals required for implementation of projects.
  • Ensure that safety in design principles and hazard studies are incorporated into the process of design development.
  • Observe and comply with all Seqwater work health and safety, quality and environmental management systems and procedures.
  • Undertake other duties, which are assigned from time to time by the Leader.
  • In all duties, comply with the behavioural expectations set out in The Way We Work (Seqwater’s Code of Conduct), and our policies and procedure

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in engineering and minimum 10 years’ engineering experience in major infrastructure.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering design and technical deliverables for water infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure projects >$50M CAPEX and design engagements >$2.5M.
  • Demonstrated capability in multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Current RPEQ registration (mandatory).
  • Class C driver’s licence.
  • Strong results orientation with proven delivery capability.

This position will be offered as a maximum term 3-year contract with an attractive salary.
