About your opportunity

As the Drinking Water Quality Advisor, you will contribute to implementation and continuously improving the drinking water quality risk management system. You will provide water quality advice to operations, maintenance, asset maintenance, planning and delivery. You will contribute to water quality risk assessments and audits of the site based and overall system components of the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan.

This role contributes to effective management of incidents within the framework of the Incident and Emergency Response Plan and Drinking Water Quality Management. You will assist with operational water quality interface with our customers and contribute to a team of water quality professionals to improve the management of water quality across Seqwater.

This role is responsible for:

  • Support Drinking Water Quality Risk Assessments and continuous improvement of site-based Drinking Water Quality Management Plans (DWQMPs) in line with legislation, ADWG, ISO22000 and internal standards.
  • Provide water quality advice to Operations, ensuring timely identification, communication and treatment of water quality risks and supporting asset and system improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Water Supply Regulation, Queensland Health and downstream partners.
  • Contribute to internal and external audits for DWQMP compliance, certification and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess and report long-term drinking water quality performance for WTPs and network assets.
  • Comply with Seqwater safety, environmental and quality systems, Code of Conduct and undertake additional duties as required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical, Microbiological or Environmental Science or Engineering, with 2+ years’ experience in water or food quality.
  • Strong knowledge of ADWG, HACCP principles, ISO22000 and ISO9001.
  • Experience in water treatment and distribution systems (desirable).
  • Lead Auditor qualification and audit experience highly regarded.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a geographically spread team, with strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Proven capability to provide robust water quality advice using internal expertise, research and external specialists.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Positive attitude aligned with Seqwater values, and an unrestricted Class C driver’s licence.

 

This position has a salary range of $115,844 - $128,520 (dependant on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation and is a full-time temporary contract until January 2027.
