About Your Opportunity
As the Principal Technology Procurement Lead, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the organisation’s technology procurement strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Partnering with Executive General Managers (EGMs), senior technology delivery leads, and other key stakeholders, you will drive procurement initiatives that enhance technology-enabled business resilience, cost optimisation, and supplier innovation.
This role requires deep expertise in technology category management, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier engagement within complex regulatory and commercial environments, particularly in the Queensland Government Information Technology Contracting (QITC) framework. You will also play a key role in procurement transformation, leveraging AI, automation, and digital procurement tools to optimise sourcing and supplier performance.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Enterprise-Wide Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute strategies and programs of works across IT, Cloud Services, Cybersecurity, Digital Transformation, Operational Technology and Telecommunications.
- Optimise Spend and Drive Value: Manage a $30M+ portfolio, influence capex/opex decisions and deliver commercial efficiencies and business value.
- Transform Procurement Digitally: Champion AI, automation and source to contract/procure to pay platforms to enhance sourcing, supplier performance and transparency.
- Ensure Compliance and Risk Assurance: Align with QITC, Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP) and other Queensland Government frameworks, manage technology procurement risks and uphold governance standards.
- Advise and Influence Stakeholders: Act as a trusted advisor to EGMs and senior Leaders, lead contract negotiations and contribute / maintain the technology category management framework.
- Strategic Supplier Engagement: Build and manage high-impact technology supplier relationships to ensure innovation, risk mitigation, and commercial effectiveness.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), with significant experience in strategic and technology procurement, including category management.
- Government & Framework Experience: Proven ability to lead procurement strategies within the Queensland Government, including deep knowledge of QITC and Queensland Procurement Policy.
- Commercial & Contracting Skills: Strong commercial acumen with expertise in complex technology contract negotiations, supplier management and procurement transformation.
- Digital & Analytical Capability: Experience with SAP Ariba, Zycus and other digital procurement platforms; skilled in leveraging AI, automation and analytics for sourcing and performance optimisation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: High-level influencing and advisory skills, with a track record of partnering with executive teams and leading strategic procurement initiatives.
- Leadership & Innovation: Demonstrated capability in driving procurement transformation, managing risk and governance and aligning with organisational values and strategic goals.
Two (2) fixed-term contract opportunities are available for six (6) and twelve (12) months, with a competitive salary and 12.75% superannuation.
