About Your Opportunity
As the Events and Engagement Advisor, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of Seqwater’s community event strategy, focusing on events that enhance employee, stakeholder and community education and engagement in alignment with the Seqwater’s corporate strategy. You will also provide high-level community engagement advice and issues management support across the business on a range of matters, including minor to moderate infrastructure projects, as well as maintenance and operations activities, to help strengthen advocacy and build social licence.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage major events and engagement activities, including end‑to‑end delivery of community, industry and internal events aligned to Seqwater’s events strategy.
- Provide expert advice and support to internal stakeholders on best‑practice event planning, community engagement and issues management, ensuring compliance with governance, tools and work instructions.
- Deliver community engagement and issues management support across infrastructure projects, operational activities and customer matters, including drafting clear, high‑quality responses to enquiries.
- Support strategic community engagement campaigns that align with Seqwater’s corporate objectives and strengthen stakeholder relationships and partnerships.
- Contribute to emergency and incident response activities, including participation in the 24/7 on‑call roster for emergency management, flood operations, media and social media issues management.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, events, community engagement or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in communications, events or community engagement roles, including managing events (preferably large‑scale and/or community‑focused).
- Demonstrated expertise in community engagement and issues management, ideally within an operational or infrastructure‑focused environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex and technical information into clear, accessible messaging for diverse audiences.
- Strong event management and stakeholder engagement capability, including planning and delivery, governance, risk management, and relationship‑building with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly developed interpersonal, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, changing environment and meet competing deadlines.
This role will be offered on a full-time fixed term contract until March 2028, with a salary ranging from $108,322 - $119,130 per annum plus 12.75% superannuation.
