About Your Opportunity
As the Senior Demand Modeller, you will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise in the development and governance of Seqwater’s bulk water demand modelling frameworks to support long-term water security planning and infrastructure investment. You will play a key role in influencing policy, driving innovation, and ensure robust demand forecasting by collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including representing Seqwater on broader industry initiatives and working groups. Acting as a recognised authority, you will integrate engineering principles, risk management, and data analytics to deliver evidence-based insights that shape corporate strategy and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and govern bulk water demand modelling and forecasting, ensuring strategic alignment, assurance, and audit‑ready governance.
- Influence long‑term water security, policy, and investment decisions, providing expert strategic advice, reporting, and executive briefings on demand risks and planning outcomes.
- Represent Seqwater externally at industry forums, conferences, presentations, and government panels, aligning partners and stakeholders with Seqwater’s water security objectives.
- Lead cross‑organisational and external collaboration, working with retailers, government and planning bodies to inform future demand, growth, and infrastructure planning.
- Provide technical leadership and innovation, mentoring modellers and advancing modelling methodologies, platforms, and data‑driven decision‑making.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Degree‑qualified in Engineering or Science, with extensive (5+ years’) leadership-level experience driving innovation in water demand modelling, forecasting, and water use data analytics or related field.
- Excellent communication skills, with well‑substantiated experience in preparing executive‑level documentation and reports, as well as authoring technical subject-matter expert papers, that translate complex modelling outputs, assumptions, uncertainties, and implications into clear and accessible advice.
- Advanced technical and analytical capability, including statistical analysis, modelling techniques, data management, and relevant tools (with GIS and scripting desirable).
- Proven leadership of complex, multi‑disciplinary work, influencing senior decision‑makers and shaping strategic, policy, and investment outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and external representation skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and advocate in industry and government forums.
This role will be offered on a permanent full-time basis, with a competitive salary, plus 12.75% superannuation.
